| London Lash Studio LVL Lash Treatment Review |
Having naturally straight Oriental lashes, I've always been envious of my Indian and Afrocaribbean friends. Every now and then I catch myself staring at their mascara-less eyes, wishing I had that natural curl myself.
And then, thanks to the blogosphere, I discovered the lash lift. Quickly typing away 'lash lift' at Treatwell.co.uk, I searched for a reasonably well-reviewed lash expert and stumbled upon Jade from London Lash Studio and signed up for a treatment.
The procedure took about 50 minutes. The therapist meticulously treats your lashes while you relax lying semi-flat with closed eyes. I opted for a blanket for comfiness. There were short-lived ie half-to-one minute episodes of stinging, but the procedure itself was relatively painless.
I chose to get 'the biggest curl possible', that is my eyelashes are curled closest to the roots. As my eyelashes were noted to be quite long, she suggested going for 'the medium curl' but I persisted for the super one. Fifty minutes later I opened my eyes to the most fluttery lashes I've ever seen, and I felt so happy they were mine!
The curl is said to last between 6-8 weeks. Good aftercare is important to ensure they last longer. There is a patch test at least 24 hours before the actual treatment which I recommend you attend to ensure your skin doesn't create an allergic reaction to the reagents used.
As for my therapist herself, I highly recommend Jade. She was brilliant, straight-forward, fuss-free, and meticulous. Just the way I like people handling my eye area. And no, this post was not sponsored.

When it comes to false eyelashes from the drugstore I believe KISS makes some of the best. Their lashes are made with 100% natural hair. They are so lightweight that I often forget I am wearing them.
Every now and then they come up with new innovations of falsies to keep up with the trends. This new-ish line up consists of the "True Volume Lashes" which are unique because of the tapered ends that mimic natural lashes to help them blend seamlessly while providing essential volume.
How to Use False Eyelashes:
1. Check fit: Lay lash on top of your natural lashline. If needed, trim to fit from the outer corners.
2. Apply eyelash adhesive to lash band, I love DUO Striplash Adhesive. Wait 30 seconds for adhesive to become tacky.
3. Apply false lashes along your natural lash line. Wait to allow adhesive to dry completely.
Above I am wearing a pair of KISS True Volume Lashes in Chic on the top lash line. You can see how delicate they are and I must say they are more natural looking than dramatic synthetic pairs I have tried before. When using eyelash strips, I recommend a thin black line on the upper lash line to disguise bands from the eyelash strips.

Amidst the sea of lashes in the world, there are a few brands we always turn to. A higher price tag does not necessarily mean higher quality and some of the best are available from your local drugstore. Here are a few tips on what we look for in a good pair of falsies:
Bourjois makeup have released their own line of false lashes. There are 5 of them, 4 of which I have. The line-up includes the following:
1. Smoky Eyes – lashes with a liner effect, £7.99
2. Rock Chic - fierce lashes for a bold, intense look, £7.99
3. Lady in Black - half-strip lashes with jewels on them to add a touch of sparkle to your outfit, £7.99
4. More Volume - lashes for a naturally chic everyday look, £6.99
5. Miss Couture - lace and catwalk inspired lashes, made for elegance and high-end glamour. Created in collaboration with Paperself, the world’s leading paper –art brand for lashes, £10.99
These false lashes can be applied in full or you can even get creative and cut them into several mini lashes for a combination of different looks. They are re-usable and can be applied as an overlay to existing false lashes.
Each pair includes adhesive.
Compared to my favourite Kiss lashes, I find these to be sub-par. They seem a bit stiffer, a bit heavier and plasticky in comparison. I also have to trim the full-sized ones to fit. They are also a bit more expensive.
These are perfect for statement looks, however. Especially Miss Couture!
