Christian Louboutin Zoulou Velvet Matte Lipstick Review Swatches
Brown is definitely in this season in the lipstick world. Finding the right shade can be tricky to say the least. I found myself wondering around Selfridges (as per usual) a few weeks ago and came across the Christian Louboutin stand. I remember when there lipsticks were first launched and how stunning they looked. I desperately wanted one until I found out they were an incredibly steep £65 each.
One beautiful shade caught my attention immediately (not to say I didn't try or swatch the rest of them) which was Zoulou.

The Christian Louboutin Zoulou Velvet Matte Lipstick is phenomenal. The packaging is sensational. I have never seen such a pretty lipstick. It's beautiful gold packaging is iconic and I can only imagine what a necklace it would make (only kidding) but that is just how breath taking it looks.
Zoulou is Louboutin's most popular shade and it is easy to see why. It's a beautiful rosy brown which
compliments a variety of skin tones. It is very versatile and wearable day and night. This beautiful shade definitely draws attention yet never looks over the top.
I am totally in love with the texture - it glides on so easily and gives an amazing creamy matte finish.

Still hung up on the heavy price tag I did another round of Selfridges determined to find a cheaper dupe but alas I could not find such a creamy or lustrous brown so it was then I decided I must have it. I have to say I have used it so much in the last few weeks and take any opportunity to show off the ornate packing to my friends. It definitely is a statement piece.
I am truly in love with this product but I have to say as it is a very creamy texture I find it doesn't last a meal which is slightly disappointing. I think I will persevere to find a dupe in the future as I'm not sure I could justify repurchasing this beauty! Having said that, I do use it a LOT currently and is definitely my go-to everyday lipstick.
Overall, I do definitely recommend this lipstick as a high end treat and definitely would make a great gift, if you could bear to part with it.

Smashbox Full Exposure Mini Palette, Pixi Box of Beauty, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Vancouver

This look is a fusion of the glow of summer and the cool tones of fall, symbolic of the current transitioning season. As some of you may know through our instagram page (follow us: @theskinandbeautyblog), my NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream collection is ever growing, with Vancouver being my latest addition. It's the same formula that we all love, but in a more daring and bold color. I am really excited that the SMLC line is getting more variety. I also used Pixi by Petra's Box of Beauty to highlight my face and give my cheeks a glowy blush, my beloved Benefit Hoola Bronzer for a little contour, and Smashbox Full Exposure Mini Palette to create a soft and dewy eye look.
We also recently collaborated with Mirina Collections, who was kind enough to invite us to their special Mirina Girl Ambassador program. The piece I picked out is called Viola Gold, from their best selling Statement Necklace line. If you're an accessory girl like I am, you'll love love love their stuff. We do have a discount code that our readers can use, should you choose to grab one of their stylish pieces. Just type mirinagirls in the coupon code box when you check out of your cart and you will receive 25% OFF of your purchase.

Daytime Summer Makeup Look
It's been forever since my last FOTD. I decided to share my pretty standard everyday summer day face. Its not revolutionary but its something that's quite simple and easy to replicate. The products I've used are perfect for the summer time. Let's get started.
After prepping with serum and sunscreen (see my current skincare saviours HERE), I apply NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in Medium 1 St Moritz. Its a moisturising base with an astounding flash-safe SPF30. I then pat on MAC Mineralised Skinfinish Natural in the shade Medium Plus all over. Baking follows with a hefty dose of Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder underneath the eyes, on my forehead and nose. I let this sit while I apply the rest of my makeup.
I apply a peachy blush with gold duochrome like MAC Petal Power Mineralize Blush on the apples of my cheeks. I dust MAC Studio Sculpt Defining Bronzing Powder in the shade Golden Rinse on the hollows of my cheeks, temples, forehead and jawline to add a bronzy glow and contour at the same time. I follow with NARS Albatross Blush on the high planes of my cheeks and the bridge of my nose. My eye makeup is simple with my favourite warm-tinted nude MAC Texture Eyeshadow on the crease and MAC Engraved Powerpoint Eye Pencil. I fill in my eyebrows with Blink Brow Bar Jasmine Mogra Brow Pencil.
Now I dust off the baked powder and apply mascara. My current favourite is MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Mascara. I add on a lippie, in this case Maybelline Touch of Spice Matte Lipstick, a matte lipstick with a creamy feel on the lips.
I love the beautiful subtle glow these products achieve and I thought you might like that too. Now off to enjoy the sunshine...

Daytime Summer Makeup Look

Starting off with my primer and SPF in one, I slapped on Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Protect paying attention to my oily T-zone. Following this I applied MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation with my fingers- the warmth of my fingertips allowed blending of the product into the skin.
I lightly contoured my cheeks with Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder. Using a Real Techniques Multi-Task Brush I applied Tarte Exposed Blush to the apples of my cheeks. High on the cheekbones I placed some Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed.
I kept the eyes simple by lining some Maybelline Blue Eyestudio Liner just at the outer corners and blending into the lashline. The blue shade instantly makes eyes look wider awake by counteracting any redness of eye capillaries.
I used Maybelline The Colossal Go Extreme Mascara, the brush might be too huge for careless use. I had to wipe away some smudges with a qtip.
Finally moving to the lips I lined and filled them with MAC Whirl Lip Pencil for a pinky brown pout. I dabbed some Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue into the centre of my lips to make the lips look larger and luscious.

Guess what? I'm married!
My fiance and I planned to get married in June, but as we wanted to do our church wedding abroad, our civil ceremony had to come first. This happened just over a week ago. There was so much excitement as my family flew in from all over the world. They arrived the day before and on the day itself so as you can tell we were pretty busy!
We did not have much left in our budget as most of it has been spent in preparations for the 'real thing' in June. We got married at our local town hall. Shannon did my hair and I did my own makeup.
I drew inspiration from the stunning tutorial by Sona Gasparian which featured the gorgeous Teni Panosian. Check out the link here. I did not have all the products she mentioned, although I substituted them with makeup I already had.

Urban Decay Naked Palette: Virgin (inner eye, browbone), Half-baked (lid)
MAC Texture Eyeshadow (crease)
MAC Texture Eyeshadow (crease)
MAC Brun Eyeshadow (outer crease, eyebrows)
Physicians Formula Eye Liner (lid)
Urban Decay Naked Palette: Creep (to smudge eyeliner)
Kiss lashes
Bourjois Mascara
Face:
MAC Prolongwear Concealer NC25
MAC Pearl Cream Colour Base
Lips:

Setting Spray:
Taking my time to apply the makeup, this took me 25 minutes to do. I did like the outcome of this look, it photographed really well. I am now contemplating whether I should do my own makeup for the 'real thing' or if I should stick to/hunt down a professional makeup artist...
