Daytime Summer Makeup Look
It's been forever since my last FOTD. I decided to share my pretty standard everyday summer day face. Its not revolutionary but its something that's quite simple and easy to replicate. The products I've used are perfect for the summer time. Let's get started.

After prepping with serum and sunscreen (see my current skincare saviours HERE), I apply NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in Medium 1 St Moritz. Its a moisturising base with an astounding flash-safe SPF30. I then pat on MAC Mineralised Skinfinish Natural in the shade Medium Plus all over. Baking follows with a hefty dose of Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder underneath the eyes, on my forehead and nose. I let this sit while I apply the rest of my makeup.

I apply a peachy blush with gold duochrome like MAC Petal Power Mineralize Blush on the apples of my cheeks. I dust MAC Studio Sculpt Defining Bronzing Powder in the shade Golden Rinse on the hollows of my cheeks, temples, forehead and jawline to add a bronzy glow and contour at the same time. I follow with NARS Albatross Blush on the high planes of my cheeks and the bridge of my nose. My eye makeup is simple with my favourite warm-tinted nude MAC Texture Eyeshadow on the crease and MAC Engraved Powerpoint Eye Pencil. I fill in my eyebrows with Blink Brow Bar Jasmine Mogra Brow Pencil.

Now I dust off the baked powder and apply mascara. My current favourite is MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Mascara. I add on a lippie, in this case Maybelline Touch of Spice Matte Lipstick, a matte lipstick with a creamy feel on the lips.

I love the beautiful subtle glow these products achieve and I thought you might like that too. Now off to enjoy the sunshine...

Daytime Summer Makeup Look

In this look I've incorporated my new makeup buys, an excellent way to try my new products all at once. Greedy, I know. I've opted for a natural look featuring rose pink shades for lips and cheeks. 

Starting off with my primer and SPF in one, I slapped on Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Protect paying attention to my oily T-zone. Following this I applied MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation with my fingers- the warmth of my fingertips allowed blending of the product into the skin. 

I lightly contoured my cheeks with Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder. Using a Real Techniques Multi-Task Brush I applied Tarte Exposed Blush to the apples of my cheeks. High on the cheekbones I placed some Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed.

I kept the eyes simple by lining some Maybelline Blue Eyestudio Liner just at the outer corners and blending into the lashline. The blue shade instantly makes eyes look wider awake by counteracting any redness of eye capillaries.

I used Maybelline The Colossal Go Extreme Mascara, the brush might be too huge for careless use. I had to wipe away some smudges with a qtip.

Finally moving to the lips I lined and filled them with MAC Whirl Lip Pencil for a pinky brown pout. I dabbed some Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue into the centre of my lips to make the lips look larger and luscious.

These memories were in my thoughts when perusing the NARS Guy Bourdin Collection. Although the selection of bright colours were appealing, I decided to listen to my practical makeup angel and picked the safer nude shades I would probably use more often.

My Picks from the NARS Guy Bourdin Collection!

Happy Good Friday everybody! I am so excited to share with you today my new blush and my thoughts from the MAC Tres Cheek collection. As you might well be aware, this is a collection of 6 spring-perfect blushes. 5 satin finishes and 1 frost. Of the 6, I only picked up one, but don't get me wrong; they are all very pretty. I just have so many blushes in my collection now and I only picked the one I thought was the most unique and most flattering for my skin-tone! 

Here are my thoughts on the individual blushes as I was swatching them all on my NC25 skin:


Immortal Flower
MAC describes this as a bright peach. I was excited about this the most, but it felt like a let-down. As I was swatching it in-store, it seemed to be quite sheer and blended so easily with my skintone, so much that I couldn't see it. It also felt a bit chalky. It might be gorgeous on those with lighter skins than I though. I'll try to check it out in different lighting, maybe it will show up!

Lovecloud
Described as a bright mid-tone pink, Lovecloud is probably my second favourite of bunch. It's a bright pink with yellow tones. I felt it looked a lot like Pink Swoon but Lovecloud just had a pinky-silver sheen to it. If I didn't have Pink Swoon, I would have picked this up! 

Modern Mandarin
This is the blush everyone seems to be excited about. Modern Mandarin is a red-orange blush with shimmer. I thought it was too dark of an orange for my skintone, so I passed.

Pink Tea
This is a neutral beige pink. Not really my cup of tea (see what I did there? ;)). It looked quite plain on the swatch, nothing special, quite dupeable, but I suppose this is a pretty wearable colour for the colour shy and working ladies out there! 

Peony Pink
This is a bright blue pink. This and Immortal Flower had the least sheen, making them look like sheertone blushes. This is very bright and can get very pigmented if builded up. It would be so flattering on people with darker skins!

Full of Joy
This is described as a lavender in a frost finish. This is the only frost blush of the bunch. I was not looking forward to this at all as I tend to steer away from frosty blushes as they can accentuate pores, making them look larger. As I swatched the previous 5, I thought I might as well swatch this. And, OMG. I fell in love! It is a light pinky-lavender with a sheen. It's not like the typical frosts like Margin. The frost is more subtle, settling into a sheen.  I immediately asked one of the makeup artists to apply this on my cheeks. It has enough pink in it to prevent it from making you look too cyanosed (although my other half did think it made my cheeks look a bit cyanotic, but not too bad). I love it! Definitely surprised with this one.

MAC Full of Joy Blush swatches:

I went to my MAC counter wearing a good base for a makeup look - all ready for a mini makeover! I wore foundation, black eyeliner, brow pencil, and mascara. And here's the look my MA did for me:
Full of Joy blush, Superb Extra Dimension Skinfinish and Snob lipstick (all from MAC!)
When I got home, after lunch, the lippie had already worn off. I replaced it with MAC Melrose Mood lipstick instead (from the Heatherette Collection), and took better quality pictures!
See that dainty innocent-ish girly flush on the apples of my cheeks? It's MAC Full of Joy blush!

I do wish MAC launched this collection in January or February to prepare for the Spring season. Now that Spring has long started and we are transitioning to summer, these light pastel blushes might not be our first-line picks for Summer looks!

MAC Force of Love Lipstick, MAC Stunner blush

MAC Force of Love lipstick hails from the MAC Chen Man Collection. Chen Man is a chinese fashion photographer in her early 20's known for her dreamy and fantasy-themed photoshoots. Out of the entire collection, I picked up this lipstick called Force of Love. It is a matte *super* bright coral-pink; it looks practically neon! It is definitely an eye-catcher. It is creamy to apply and it is very pigmented. It is perfect for Springtime, but definitely not for the colour-shy.

I haven't been THIS excited about makeup in a while!

I admit -- I am IN-LOVE with Sleek MakeUP's latest offering - the Berry Collection. This is a trio berry-toned shades: Mossberry eye kohl, Fenberry blush and Cranberry lipstick. At first, I thought a trio of dark berry shades were too much for a whole look; turns out, they're perfect together, especially for this cold winter season! The quality of these three products is fantastic; I foresee a lot of use of these products - especially the liner and the blush. Keep reading for my review, swatches - and a look wearing all three. :)



Mossberry eye kohl looks like a dark maroon on the pencil, but it swatches like a dark red violet, cranberry like. It looks very similar to Cranberry lipstick in swatches. It applies well on the lids, doesn't particularly glide or tug, and it lasts at least 4 hours on my oily lash line without smudging, fading or transferring. Its pretty good actually!




Fenberry blush is a dark pinky nude blush. At first I was intimidated by the colour, but it applies like a natural flush on my cheeks. Its darker than the blushes I usually wear, so I tend to apply this on the hollows of my cheeks for a contouring effect, as well as on the apples of my cheeks. It's quite pigmented so be sure to blend well!




Cranberry lipstick is a dark berry red colour. It's a matte, but seems to apply with a bit of a sheen. Because its a matte, you need well moisturised and flake-less lips (not like mine!). Dark colours like this tend to be more difficult to apply straight from the tube; a matching lip liner would be useful to help define your lip line.

LOOK and Review: Sleek MakeUP Berry Collection

This post is dedicated to my beautiful & talented sister, Shannon.

 On September 2010, my sister had her Sweet Sixteenth birthday celebration, themed Alice in Wonderland! It was a pretty big party with over a hundred guests. My entire family dressed up in costumes for the occasion, I was the Red Queen - I designed my own costume, hence its unlike any of the 'Red Queen/Queen of Hearts' costumes out there. I did my own makeup, as well as my sister's makeup - by her request! I was a bit proud that she chose me to do her makeup instead of the salon's makeup artist. Haha. This post has the makeup looks I did for us both, as well as about her big night. Well, I hope you enjoy the pictures~ ! ♥
